I actually set it to the default Auto (Off), as my temps were getting crazy. It did increase the speed in general (with the same percentages of performance loss on bare metal, 30% and KVM, 15%). I had it set to the mid level (3), which was the default for enabled.

To have PBO enabled you must have a proper cpu cooling system

but to prove a thing you can try this:

put it enable in bios

boot osx

open AMD power gadget tools

run cinebench cpu benchmark one time (off multiple tests)

check tdp with amd power gadget max tdp value i mean

You will be astonished

check the same with auto or disabled for PBO option

in poor cpu cooler condition PBO in auto or disabled produce pretty same tdp value

as side note

a huge tdp value produces tremendous temperatures and a tiny improvement in benchmark

I changed both of my settings to "8" and re-ran the GB5 tests. Both OpenCL and Metal results were reduced by about 5%... I'll re-test another time disabling both Quirks. The results all seem a bit odd to me.

In my previous testing in windows OS with resize bar bios option I have no difference in usual benchmark I do, some people say a good improvement is in games

I can't say because I have no games

In OSX this new features seems also a bit unpowered and not complete (not sure about this), then we have to have hope that initial OpenCore implementation is working well for all users (and AMD users are not so considered well from Opencore's devs 🙂 )

So, for these reasons I am not investigating hard in this field (beta OS if used in Monterey and beta bootloader...and more beta resize bar option)

Benchmark also in OSX for me is not affected.

To improve GPU benchmark is better to concentrate our efforts to Soft PM Power table because, our 6900 xt in heavy utilisation could throttle and undervolting it a bit produces in my case better result in luxmark3.1

@DriftwoodEnergy Saver option could be different if you use or not SSDT-plug or CPU power management.

Asrock TRX40 Creator users - if you update to firmware TRX4CTR1.73 and Enable Above 4G and Resizable BAR please be aware that your MMIO will change in Childs 2 and 3 to:-

2143418829_Screenshot2021-10-13at20_19_42.thumb.png.8378101016bc9783b3ea34049db6a802.png

I will upload my current EFI later for OC 0.75 beta. You can experiment with Resizable BAR but I don't think it makes a great deal of difference for anything outside of FPS related stuff like games and maybe NLEs of which I haven't fully tested yet. Ill also take screen shots of BIOS to see if all Creator users can boot with those settings and have shutdown.

Sleep, I have found since updating to BS 11.6 onwards and Monterey Beta 8, 9 & 10 is very awkward. I have tried every available variable and am now experiencing a constant problem with these dual Radeon VIIs plus the AX200 replaced with Broadcom Apple Friendly BT/Wifi.

News is that the Asrock dsdt is all over the place - not even Asrock support could decipher it. Under Shanee's guidance he's asked me to direct the problem to mAldon on Insanely Mac. So the request sits there awaiting his perusal and response. Fingers crossed he can shed some guidance on the following Wake error:-

kernel: (AppleACPIPlatform) AppleACPIPlatformPower Wake reason: D0A1 D0A2 D0A3 D0A4 D0A5 D0A6 D0A7 D0B0 D0B1 D0B2 D0B3 D0B4 D0B5 D0B6 D0B7 D1A0 D1A1 D1A2 D1A3 D1A4 D1A5 D1A6 D1A7 D1B1 D1B2 D

I know that other Asrock Creator users have also been experiencing this bug. It seems the dsdt is incomplete and so I have forwarded the full sys report onto that site too. Have a look if you need to.

SysReport.zip

The other thing you'll notice in Monterey is that in About My Mac or Hackintools unnamed USB devices are listed as Composite Devices or Unknown / IOUSBHostDevice (is my external USB Controller). Take a look at screen grabs. Pitch in if you feel able.

USB BT / Wifi - when you switch on or off BT and wifi, the USB devices in About My. Mac show:-

All three .M2 slots on my MSI Creator mobo are populated with MVMe drives: one for Windows and 2 for macOS (M/BS). I boot off either of these two internal macOS EFI partitions on NVMe drives. There are also 3 SATA drives which are used for storage (these too have EFI partitions which have bootable OC EFI folders). I keep one of the SATA drives's EFI with MmioWhitelist for Above 4G enabled and another with for when Above 4G is disabled, using an older, stable versions of OC. These are for 'backdoor' booting should either of the EFIs on the main NVMe drives get corrupted or I change a BIOS setting.

You see no differences moving around your NVMEs  clashing with say Thunderbolt Card (or the firewire you tried once some time ago?). Also, what SATA ports are your drives coming off? SATA Controller 1 , data controller 2 or both mixed? ie you see absolutely no clashing of IRQ resources anywhere?

ASROCK CREATOR USERS: My current EFI. Its set for the latest OC0.75 beta, but everything works well in Monterey and BS. If you are still on BIOS 1.70 disable the ResizeGpuBar entries below.

If you do update your BIOS to 1.73 for ResizeBARs then this EFI should just work! Don't forget to input YOUR PlatformID serials and MLB number. 😉

Inside config.plist note: In Boot>Quirks ResizeAppleGpuBars = 8*. In UEFI>Quirks  ResizeGpuBars is set to -1

This is the most settled Ive seen the computer, and although Sleep doesn't work, it goes through the motions and you don't get the dreaded Wake Reason like above earlier thread.

Ive tried 10 and 10 for both ResizeGpueBars and it boots and works fine but you get the same old Sleep errors as Ive talked about above.

Ive tried Pavo's idea of ResizeAppleGpuBars Boot Quirks = 0 and UEFI Quirks ResizeGpueBars -1 (disabled) as he got sleep/wake working with that, but you will get PCI Configuration Begins boot error if you use it.

This is also includes my USBMap.kext with Power amp plist settings integrated, so I don't need a ssd. Though I have the EC fix just in case!

All in all its fine... one day we will beat this sleep/wake issue. 🙂 We keep trying.

No clashes.

SATA/PCIe clashes are only on Intel.

AMD has issues on X570 with PCIe and .M2 slots. I've not seen this on the TRX40 as there are not so many PCIe slots.

I tried booting tonight with both OC ResizeBar variables set to -1 but had KP as shown in Spoiler. I had to change both values back to 8 or 10 to boot.

good luck for maldon help on this task 🙂 😛

Iy is a weird problem and maybe you have to simplify your "variable" and stay simple as you can both on bios setting and kext used..

if I remember in the past your Sleep/wake was working solid in any conditions... maybe some bios settings are not working well

a good measure could be also to try in other OS like windows or linux if there sleep is working as you want

hi @valmeida

normal update or app assistant as it seems?

post only your config.plist

In your BIOS have you TPM enable or disabled?

edit:

It could be also a bad downloaded update if it is usual your working EFI

I have TPM disable here is my config list . I download a copy from my desktop and my MacBook Pro  and they both give me the same error .

@Driftwood This was the exact same problem I had with sleep. I had too change USB SSDT to get it working properly. I copied @Rocket88 version which works but is not 100%, still need to figure out how to customize it.

Here is my latest  OC 0.75 EFI which rids the Wake reason: D0A1 D0A2 D0A3 D0A4 D0A5 D0A6 D0A7 D0B0 D0B1 D0B2 D0B3 D0B4 D0B5 D0B6 D0B7 D1A0 D1A1 D1A2 D1A3 D1A4 D1A5 D1A6 D1A7 D1B1 D1B2 D error:-

However, Im still trying out variables to get Sleep / Wake to work correctly... some intensive dsdt analysis is going on.

MMIOWhitelist is for Resize bars bios fw 1.73.

This is the most stable EFI yet.

Tell me if you get an ACPI error on OC boot up just before it goes into Home (OSX Screen)
