You should use the same your working non debug Efi

change boot folder and opencore.efi file with the same version (only debug) you can find on acidhantera github or download with OC EFI maker app you can find in download forum section

Those error are a bad config and maybe you use a 061 version with a previosus config version

 

 

To enable a proper debug on a debug version of opencore you have to put target value to a value of 69

default is 3 i think

That is what I did, with 3 different config files modified for the relevant versions. They always halt at the same place, so there must be something in my config that the debug version doesn't like. @iGPUeven re did my whole EFI (which boots but stops my mouse working - probably a misconfigured/blocked USB port(s). Even with the mouse not working I was hoping a debug version would at least boot and I could get the files off the stick. No such luck. It always halts with the same error.

Now i am out from my pc

put if you want your working efi (fully working i mean)

tomorrow morning i will upload the debug efi for your system

if you search on your config applesecure boot and other name you can see in schema error description you can adjust your config

it is not a debug version problem

Im Similar. However, its not just USB freeze, in BS Im getting clock freeze, so the whole system freezes.

As you can see the addresses start the same, but then they diverge. I also backed out a white list from doing the @iGPU booting experiment, which essentially disabled only 2 of them (3rd and 4th from bottom). I booted successfully with 2 enabled all else disabled, then tried to enable the next 2 and failed, then succeeded on 2 enabled, 2 disabled, 1 enabled, all else disabled. Decided to enable all after and booted again successfully as it didn't make sense to have 2 disjoint regions of memory affected reducing the search to 6 reboots. After I added the whitelist I managed to get the same "clicking off" experience on shutdown as @iGPU. Then, I was about to test NVRAM with SSDT and among some other reboots and tweaks, when my entire install got somehow compromised and I could not a find a single EFI (including ones that worked before) where I could stably boot or perform recovery or reinstall. I'd get forced restarts 2 minutes into sessions. Flashed BIOS, as I can't explain how this is possible without board NVRAM corruption, and went back to VMs.

Re your sound issue, have you tried alcid=16 rather than alcid=11?

It is odd somehow. I changed alcid to 11 from 1 as you suggested, and immediately the audio started working. Then I switched to the EFI posted by @iGPU. That caused the USB port (yes, you are right about some ports. The BIOS USB port on the back panel isn't working either. Also, restart wasn't working either - the system would hang when I tried restarting) to be disabled. So when I switched back to your original EFI, much of the functionality returned but audio didn't. I tried changing to 16, and 1 from 11, but it still isn't working. While the front panel is fine, the sound level is disabled.

 

I reset the BIOS too but it still is the same. May be I would try reflashing the BIOS?

@meina222 it is not advisble to play with mmio without knowing what that address do

 

i have seen on dortania guide they advice to use two address that it seems we both do not have

i have asked some explanation

i would like to understand which motherboard or bios has those address

@fabiosun, There is my original and @iGPUmodified (but some USB ports don’t work with modified) on the previous page, Page 13. Either of those should do. I am at work at the moment so can’t upload right now. I will try what you send back tonight and post the MMIO details requested.

 

@Jaidy, I have the same problem. If I select Restart it just hangs and if Shutdown then it reboots. The reboot doesn’t really bother me as I just power off when it gets back to the OpenCore picker.

common problems for all are:

 

1)shutdown 

2) reboot

 

with this EFI system does not hang, but above points do not work well

 

If EFI starts fine in your system you will find in EFI folder a txt file

If you have had USB problems with this EFI you should have the same problems

 

i do not use any of SSDT you are using, I have kept your ACPI folder as is

I would also try without SSDT

Thank you for sending the EFIs.

 

I booted my system with my original EFI and it boots OK.

 

I then tried with your Debug version. It got stuck on the "Watchdog status is 1" screen for about 2 minutes then the screen goes blank for about 5 minutes and then the system booted.

 

I have attached the MMIO details from the created text file on the EFI.

 

I then booted with the new EFI you sent. It displayed a few error messages about No Schema but it did continue and booted. I then did a "Restart" to test if it still hangs but it didn't and it restarted. 

 

I again booted from your EFI but this time it would not load. It halted on critical errors.

 

I tried restarting with my normal EFI that worked first but again I get the same error about critical errors.

 

I can no longer boot with any of the EFIs, my original or the 2 that you sent. I clear NVRAM 3 times but still could not start Catalina. Tried loading optimised defaults and disabled CSM, Above 4G Decoding etc. I still cannot boot into Catalina, always critical err

My efi can’t give that schema errors

simply because there are not that voices

you have that voices in 061 efi you previously used

so do not mix stuff

be sure to use a proper version

 

weird the other things which happen if you Have done all in a correct way

gigabyte seems to act in a weird mode maybe for bios culprit

I erased and repartitioned the USB sticks I used so there is nothing on them.

 

On 1 stick I copied the EFI you posted, on the other stick I copied the Archivio EFI you sent. 

 

Maybe I misunderstood what you said but now nothing will boot.

 

No matter, I will clear CMOS later and try again.

 

Is there anything interesting in the MMIO values I sent compared to other MBs?

@Ploddles - I ended up in a similar situation (don't know how) where I could no longer boot in any EFI. I haven't retried yet after refreshing BIOS - I want to build it from scratch this time around but not sure it's worth it if shutdown and restart not working. I don't see any benefit except more ports and maybe the TB card.

I haven't retried yet after refreshing BIOS - I want to build it from scratch this time around but not sure it's worth it if shutdown and restart not working. I don't see any benefit except more ports and maybe the TB card.

the EFI @Ploddles posted on page 5 (I think), has restart working for me perfectly fine. Actually after disabling sleep, everything but the shutdown works. Audio though, the back panel is not working, but it was working previously for me. May be you can try using his EFI from that page?

Just a FYI this method is related to Prepare to Sleep method of the ACPI spec.

7.4.1 \_PTS (Prepare To Sleep)
The _PTS control method is executed by the OS during the sleep transition process for S1, S2, S3, S4, and for orderly S5 shutdown. The sleeping state value (For example, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 for the S5 soft-off state) is passed to the _PTS control method. This method is called after OSPM has notified native device drivers of the sleep state transition and before the OSPM has had a chance to fully prepare the system for a sleep state transition. Thus, this control method can be executed a relatively long time before actually entering the desired sleeping state. If OSPM aborts the sleep state transition, OSPM should run the _WAK method to indicate this condition to the platform.
Arguments (1):
Arg0 – An Integer containing the value of the sleeping state (1 for S1, 2 for S2, etc.) Return Value:
None
The _PTS control method cannot modify the current configuration or power state of any device in the system. For example, _PTS would simply store the sleep type in the embedded controller in sequencing the system into a sleep state when the SLP_EN bit is set.
The platform must not make any assumptions about the state of the machine when _PTS is called. For example, operation region accesses that require devices to be configured and enabled may not succeed, as these devices may be in a non-decoding state due to plug and play or power management operations.

It maybe useful to check real Mac dumps and see how they are handling the _PTS method or figure out how to convert the values of their methods and adapt it to ours.

@fabiosun came across something interesting regarding Nvidia Drivers within Big Sur, while digging through kexts to fix BT. Not sure if you've seen these yet. Attaching Zip.

 

The interesting part about it is in the kext file. It seems like with adjustments to the NVArch device match, you should be able to load the GTX drivers, albeit not as optimized, or loading a custom driver it seems like.

@Pavo - I have (and older) MacBook Pro late 2012 running Catalina so I could generate a dump on that. If it's preferable to use iMacPro I could probably get access to do that.

 

How do you force dumps? In particular, how can I force it to dump on sleep and shutdown. Is this link helpful in figuring that out?
